Hi ya'll. this is my first post on this board - seems the other one has changed a bit since I last visited. Anyhow, here's the question - (and yes, I've tried the search but can't find the answer) Is there a definitive list out there of all the vehicles you can switch seats from into our trucks with minimal to no mods. I know, obviously, like years and models - but will expedition seats swap into the F350? Will F150 seats swap into the F350? Will Explorer seats work? I can't wrap my head around $1000 for aftermarkets but need to get rid of the bench (it hurts my wife's back). I've got a line on some buckets and console out of a '94 EB Explorer - will they bolt in or will I have to fab new frames? I am not a welder but can wrench with the best of 'em...Help me out old timers! Thanks in advance! zip

But, to answer the questions, IIRC F150 from the same body style bolt in. Like you I did not have a tone to spend. I picked up a set of Escape LTD power leather buckets, had Agnem assist with fab'ing a bracket and dropped them in. For daddy's day I got a 08 SD center console.
My only real issue is the seatbelt reciever on the Escape seats does not mate to the belt. I had to retain my old belt recievers and am too lazy to remove the other ones!

What will fit depends entirely on how much you want it to fit.
My back is completly shot so I scavanged a low profile air seat from the passenger side of an International 9670 Cabover semi for a drivers seat and another one that didn't have the air ride, but has the fore aft isolator for the passenger side, then grabbed a center seat/ fold down arm rest from a '08 ford super duty and rigged the whole works together. Very comfortable.

as far as a bolt in seat, a bench from a 80-96 will fit.
a 40/20/40 from a CC or reg cab will fit.
40/20/40 or captains chairs from a super cab will fit, but require 4 new holes drilled per seat.
40/20/40 or captians from a 99+ superduty or newer f-150 will fit but also need 4 holes per seat drillled.

Sweet about the 40-20-40 out of a 99+ SD I seen one at the JY that had a hell of a sweet one with the fold down center console.

If you get seats that have integral seat belts, DO NOT USE THEM. You can use the seats, but the belts must not be used. Continue to use the seat belts that originally came with the truck and are bolted into the truck cab structure.
The floor is not strong enough in older trucks to support the weight of the seat and passengers in a collision situation.
For the record, these seats came out of a late 70s cordoba. I made them fit by making a steel frame to tie them together, then that steel frame bolted into the original floor mounts so no new holes were needed.
Basically, 1980-1996 has the same floor, so that is more likely to be a bolt on deal, but other seats can be modded to fit depending on how much work you can put into it.

I got a set of captains chairs from a full size Bronco for my '92 extended cab F250. Just had to play with the positioning a bit & drill a few new holes. I love having armrests, and boy are they comfy for longer trips. I remember something about what cab style you have playing a role in what fits also.

I could be remembering wrong, but I recall hearing that, if you go to drill holes in the cab floor to install bucket seats in a cab that originally had a bench seat, you have to reinforce the extra holes. It can certainly be done, but IIRC it's not as simple as drilling, sticking a bolt in, and calling it good....

Thats true, the trucks with buckets had extra metal under the mounting points. I discovered that when I replaced the bench in my 85 with buckets from a 90, since they share none of the same mounting holes. I used the largest, thickest washers I could find to put under the floor to help. Some flat stock would probably work well too.
Check the JY for seats, the yard out here charges $35 for a pair of non power buckets and $50 for power buckets, reagardless of the rig they came from. I got a set of nice 90 t-bird seats for my 67 mustang.

I could probably live with tan if they were in great shape and I could get 'em cheap enough - but I think I owe it to myself to have a good hard look around here first...
