A/C blows fuse #9 immediately

Would one of these be the diode? The single wire is right on the compressor and to me looks like it’s just a quick disconnect for the compressor

The other is kind of like a fuse and is located where the single compressor wire runs into the wiring harness near the passenger side fenderwell/fire wall.

There is no reason for a diode on a compressor. It looks like a wire connection.

These are what I bought, https://www.ebay.com/itm/405127869337 , because that's what was installed when I unwrapped things, however, I'm fairly sure the diode I removed was not original so no idea what the factory actually used.

If there ain't no reason, then why is it labeled a/c clutch resistor diode in the wiring diagram????

The reason is to suppress the reverse voltage spike when the clutch is disengaged. You are mainly protecting the low pressure switch contacts making them last longer.

You will notice the clutch has two wires going to it. The diode is going to be across those two wires, one of the wires eventually going to ground somewhere. The diode is not installed inline but across the clutch.

I think I have a wiring diagram if you need it but you should be able to just copy the existing wiring.
