Hi all.... I have been watching whats going on with the torque specs and sealant combo on the crank bolts and what Towcat posted goes a long way with me. Just sit back and read this but please laugh with me and not at me. I have sitting next to my truck thats up on blocks a BTS trans. I can't install it because the "special" crank spacer that was fabricated by a shop that BTS chose is about 3/8th of an inch short. I was under the truck and removed the old Jaspers trans. Damn... I didn't get the truck high enough so some tilting and pulling it finally comes out from under the frame. Then I start with the old flywheel removal because the new torque converter os so big it wont fit mine. Then I install the spacer which was really well made and fit with about 1/2 a thousands to the crank. Then the new wheel and the metal washer and all the new bolts... But things didn't tighten up but the bolts seemed to bottom out internally in the crankcase. So out the come when all of a sudden they start turning really hard. What has happened is the first threads on the "new" bolts has slightly rolled over and now its dragging out all the crank shaft threads feeling like a ni lock jam nut fit...... I have to continue removing the bolts or EVERYTHING is lost. Well they came out ok but I needed to chase the threads and smooth some out. Also the crank threads were tapped and are fine as frogs hair. No problem but it sure was tuff keeping the chips on the greased tap. Otherwise they would have fallen into the pan. Now I call BTS and talk to Brian about my "spacer that he had 6 of made up. Gees..... I told hime I have one being overnited to me and it would be here in the morning. He wants ME to measure it and callhim the size. About 10am the next morning my parts get here. The box is the size of a flexplate.... I bet you know whats inside the big ass box. Yep... Its a flexplate. Now remember the trans is up on a trans jack and the truck is WAY up on blocks... And I don't have the part I need. So the trans gets set up on some blocks too because no sence keeping a $25.00 a day rental jack. Who knows how long till I get my correct parts. I remember that Towact was buying a spacer from TYp4 so I call him and he tells be just contact Russ and we will fit the costs later. Gees... I have Verizon broadband and its really crappy in the mornings. I can't get online till late that afternoon and ask for hep from all you guys. Finally I have 2 spacers coming my way. Thatnks so much you guys. Without you my day would have really been ruff. I have left out some other "funny stuff" but talk about having a bad day..... It really does sux to be me sometimes. I will be fine in a year or two I hope. So, the next time you think your having a hard day remember me. Seems most of my adventures are not what someone would think could happen to one guy time after time....:D

I think I may be insensitive to bad happenings now (or i just read it wrong) because to me it sounds like you had a heck of a time but it's all good seeing you'll have what you need to get the job done. And it only took a few days, eh? See if this were really bad I would have expected something to fall off those blocks you have everything on (knocks on wood).

I don't know if you remember my adventures of replacing my engine. It only took me about a month to rebuild my engine, then when i was almost completely done and had the engine all reinstalled it turned out everything I had done was futile because it was cavitation and not a head gasket like I thought. So I basically had to just start over and take it all apart again and buy a new engine and put it all back together again. Only took three months -cuss In that time my engine was dropped only once too :backoff (one of my dads friends was at the controls of the engine lift...)

After what you've gone thru with your engine. All's I can think is that you are one of the most patient men on the planet?

But you do things RIGHT. You should have one hell of a truck when it finally all comes together.

Good luck the rest of the way

Yes Warden... But my wife is shiftless.......:rotflmao
At least she acknowledges it...my ex-girlfriend tried to drive my truck once (my fault; I was trying to get her accustomed to driving a clutch), and when we were getting off the freeway, she downshifted from 5th to 2nd (thinking she was in 4th) at 50mph  The engine was screaming loud enough that I had to raise my voice to tell her to push the clutch in, and she got mad at me for "yelling" at her...and stayed mad even after I explained what had happened and why I did what I did :dunno

Sharp as a marble, she was...

Sounds about like a normal female to me. Irrational, unstable, and overall... insane.
