I changed my rear fuel tank because of algae.Truck runs great. It intermittently now will start rattling and blowing white smoke and fuel out the exhaust, then back to normal at highway speed.I don't think I hooked up lines backwards. And they are both 5/16 because I think they have been changed.Any help where to start?93 7.3 idi

Check the oil level on the dipstick. Sounds like an overfilled crankcase / pan, resulting in windage driven oil carryover through the CDR valve into the intake manifold.

If the pan is overfilled, the pump shaft seal is likely leaking. Later engines had a weep hole to keep fuel from overfilling the crankcase.

If the crankcase is over full and you are still running the mechanical lift pump, I would would start there before thinking the IP.

Oil diluted with fuel is normally how mechanical pumps go, gas an diesel.

The next time I need to try and talk over someone's head or just confuse them I'm gonna' talk about "windage driven oil carryover". :Thumbs Up
Lol.
Guy has some pretty interesting posts, like maybe he was involved in development or testing of these engines. Would be interesting to here what he has to say if that is the case.
