86 does have cruise
My '84 has cruise control also, and if it didn't, I would have retrofitted it in a long time ago. :) I should have clarified; my apologies...I meant '86 and older trucks that weren't equipped with cruise control, which was a factory option. I don't think I've seen an XLT or Lariat truck that didn't have cruise, but I've seen plenty of XL and base model trucks that weren't equipped with it...that's what I was referring to when I mentioned IDI trucks that were 100% computer-free (although you could even argue that point depending on what radio's in the truck)

LOL read the title of the thread Mike ;Really

PSD's are electronic.
a IDM, CPU and a abs box
yup its got a ZF5.

DOH!! :frustrate

Had it backwards. It's the OBS parts that got me. For some reason in my head I thought you were back dating... don't mind me...carry on...

No need to appologize for my inability to read...

really thinking about kicking this truck out of the yard, incomplete.
its been 6 weeks since ive talked to the owner.
told him i needed more cash to finish the fuel system.
that, and a little bit of wiring left.
makes no sense to me how someone would leave his project.
but time and time again, it happens...
this is why i never got into the custom automotive industry as a profession

I don't know what the time limit you agreed to was when you took on this project, but it seems to me that if you don't hear back from your customer in the next two weeks, it's time to send it down the road. Two months, IMHO, is more than enough time for the customer to at least talk to you (if not pay).

the calls and text ive sent him, were going to the wrong number LOL
he called me today to find out whats up, and is gonna swing by before friday.

im still not workin on his truck until my 6 door is done tho

as this is my first PSD swap, there was no time limit,
told him itll get done when it gets done!
just as long as he's ontop of it.
i will be too.
but my F350 is down and i need to work on my truck now first.

Glad it was something simple and was able to be worked out! It's always a bummer when someone has you do work and then bails when it comes to the bill.

had that happen with a cherry 72 chevy stepside,
unknown specs on engine, with a BDS 8-71.
took the 8-71 off for a N/A intake and carb because i didnt wanna be responsible for melting a piston.
needed wiring, and plumbing. a contracted 2500 dollar job.
2 years later, i had it "towed" away.

Sucks that the guy wouldn't pony up the money to finish the job, but not much anyone can do, I suppose. Did he at least make you whole for the work you did do?
