2 Random questions..

I just bought a Motorcraft fuel filter... Something is suppose to screw onto the bottom..(?) Does anyone know what it is called, or have a part number?

Is the oil dip stick suppose to have an o-ring on the end where it meets the block? Mine doesn't, and it fits loose..

Take the motorcraft filter back and get a one piece Napa fuel filter.

The stock fuel filter was a 2 piece design with the filter being one piece and the other is the fuel / water separator base.
And a said there is an oring at the base of the dipstick tube.

Baldwin also makes a one piece filter with or without the water in fuel sensor.

Well there ya have it. Lots of real choices and ways to go. So about the o ring on the dip stick tube... Ta hell with it. Just use some rtv and stick it in and be done the it. Thats what most here do anyway. I know thats what I did and no leaks either...

a "ring" of RTV works just as well on the dipstick tube.

I don't think I can return it.. they had to order it. Is there anything wrong with the Motorcraft filters? The bowl that screws on is just for water, right?

No. That filter won't work without the bottom piece. Just hang onto it and sell it to somebody that needs it. Motorcraft filters are top notch. In the meantime, the parts bin has the part numbers for the other filters.

Don't bother trying to get the oring from the ford dealer, the one they currently have listed is the wrong size and you will go insane trying to force an oversized oring in that won't fit. You can only get it in full gasket sets and possibly from IH, and even then you are going to want to seal it up with some RTV. Might as well just get a glob of RTF and set it in there and clamp down the holding screw up top to hold it in place and you are good to go.
