1988 F350 Transmission Door Tag Code

I'm looking at adding a 1988 F350 CC dually to my collection to legitimize the dually rearend in the Centurion conversion, and add a ZF to my F250 4X4. The seller insists the truck has a 4 speed, but I can't find info anywhere that suggests a 4 speed was offered behind the F350 7.3 in 1988. Did all of the F350 CC 7.3 4X2's get the ZF in 1988. The trans door tag code is "C". Thanks in advance.

For that year, the trans options were zf5 and c6, Iirc.
But he could be stuck in the old days where they count the forward gears, then OD is separate. So 4 speed with OD.
If you go look at it, it'll be easy to tell.
But it is possible someone swapped it.

This guide - http://www.fordtruckclub.net/forum/showthread.php?p=53549 - suggests it's a ZF5. The guy might just be looking at the shift knob, which doesn't indicate a 5.
