I'm relating this from my Ford Maverick guys. Ford Mavericks are known for their poor instrument cluster illumination. The fix we found was to replace all of the GE194 bulbs with Sylvania 2825-w5w bulbs. I thought will the poor headlight switches in the OBS trucks this may help some. You could also replace the cab lights, frt. corner lights, and rear center marker lights (dually). I was looking for a brighter bulbs for my "rookie rod" guide poles, and I remembered this article. The new bulbs are brighter(not LED bright) but they are brighter. I figure any reduced wattage to the head light switch should be better. Russ

The GE194 bulb is rated at 3.0 watts. The bulbs are actually more like 2.5 watts. Ford began using this printed circuit/bulb set up in 1969 & it was utilized throughout the model lines for years. The fix is to use a Sylvania 2825-W5W replacement bulb that will give you 5 watts at a cooler temperature. I believe this bulb was designed for the Japanese side marker lamps.
