Will a 235/85 mount on a 8" wheel?

Yep, if you check a website like firestone or another brand usually they list a recommended rim size/width for each size of tire.

i'd just get 7" wheel if your only gonna run 235/85, like 94-97 factory wheels.

Factory wheels are nice. But for less than the price you pay for used ones, and take a chance on them being straight, you can get new.

Being 2WD, I'm looking for less rolling resistance (MPG) and not having to deal with the speedo. The stock tire size might be a great option.

Yeah, the nice thing about 235/85 is that you can usually get a heavier ply tire.
