Evening folks,
Would anyone happen to know the inside pipe diameter on the Downpipe for the 085 ATS Turbo System? Preferably in the area of largest diameter before the first complete bend in the DP. I plan to cut it at this point and have a flange welded on for a v band style connection. I've read a few horror stories about people not being able get their DP fitted and sealed back into the exhaust housing on this system. Can someone enlighten me on why this is?
Would it make sense to just have the cut DP section (before the bend) welded to the exhaust housing and use the V band connection I add in as a point of disconnection if it ever needs to be removed. Which it will when I get the turbo rebuilt by Russ when that time comes. Is the current exhaust housing even worth all the hassle with removal for welding DP section on top of plan to rebuild and add compressor wheel upgrade? Installed will be the Bull moose(owned), Mark II's(very very soon), studs(anytime), cam(still learning) and intercooler(owned).

To give an idea on what I'm tossing around in my head. I'm aware it doesn't exactly fit the description I tried to explain. Looking for input. Thanks! ;Sweet

I don't know the answer, but that's a great idea.

Thanks Jasper. It would be really cool to know what's the highest boost someone's recorded with a 085 turbo set up with some upgrades to the motor and/or to the system itself. That way I have a realistic idea of what to expect from the turbo set up with the rebuild, compressor wheel upgrade (if even possible) and the bigger none crushed DP.

I always assumed there was a adapter for the rear of the housing to use V bands. There really should be. At the KW plant, they only use V bands for all the exhaust.
