Just a heads up for ya' - Before Christmas there was a post concerning ISSPRO having a big clearance sale. I am a gauge guy and figured I would buy some and then sell a few off. I came up with about 15 different P/N's they had in stock and then did my homework. Everyone has a story, 4 foot...
So after 5 months of running my truck I got the dreaded starter grind, twice in about 6 starts today. I can't remember the last time it was ever the starter drive that was wore down so I'll figure ring gear as the most likely culprit. My initial search turned up nothing on the chain websites...
Mostly need the front half - from carrier bearing to Trans but would consider both pieces as well. Needs to fit 1986 F250 C6 IDI 2 WD Ex Cab LB. Should be a pretty easy ship - I have FedEx Ground account if you can pack it up, I also use Paypal or can send Money Order. Thanks, Bill
Hauled home "brand new"... yes "NEW" - "NOS" - US gear OD unit. Never installed. The install kit is for a 2WD C6 p/n 80-80026 and the OD unit itself is p/n 170-48080. The OD unit shows it works with 4WD and 2WD models up to 2003. Not sure what the kits require or if it's a direct T/C mount...
Finished the Sterling swap tonight - what a difference a ratio change can make. I wanted to point out a few things I found if anyone is interested or looking to do this swap.
1) Get as complete a rear diff. as you can from the 92 and up long pinion 10.25.
2) I was able to get enough...
In the process of swapping my 86 4.10 open with the 94 3.55 Trac Loc. Got the old diff. out and getting ready to install the 94. So my 86 has the hillbilly hydraulic precursor to anti-lock brakes in the way of a rotary valve with some crazy tinker toy linkage tied to the 10.25 diff. cover. My...
Need to know the capacity of a 10.25 in pints, quarts, imperial gallons or what ever you know. I want to fill it with the cover off on the jack stands before I button it up and bolt it in.
I am in the middle of my 10.25 Sterling swap - taking out my 86 4.10 open and installing a 94 3.55 Trac Loc. Old diff. is all out and I need to change my rear U-joint and I should be ready to go back together. The rear driveshaft has me a little stumped. Never done a lot with 2 piece shafts...
Curious how many of you run a true bypass oil filter system. I like the idea of moving to a Syn oil and extending the drain intervals, and like the results I have seen on paper from Puradyn on improving engine life. I read some fleet truck reports that were incredible on the drain intervals...
So I started installing the new to me 1994 3.55 10.25 Trac Loc Sterling Diff into my 86 2wd F250. Apparently it is no myth that these trucks eat brake return springs, pulled off drums on my old diff. still in truck and both upper and lower return springs on DS were broken clean in half. I had...
Looking at the HydroBoost upgrade for my 1986 - after perusing the tech articles they seem to state 1988 - 1997 F450 is the preferred donor. Is this the case going back to 86 or will I have other mods to make not noted in the tech articles? Or is there a more ideal setup for the older F250's...
My 86 (see sig) has both fuel tanks and senders that work (sort of). When the tanks get to about half full the gauges fall off to nothing and bounce all around on the empty mark. I know there are lots of posts about this and I understand there is some inherent problem and a fix involved. Not...
So all the input on moving to a newer truck has given me more ammo to upgrade and fix what i have - convert it to 4xx4 and upgrade to newer 10,25 long pinion 3.55 trac loc. I would like to stay with my C6 and have decided rather than go with GV or DNE to just swap the 4.10 to a 3.55 to get my...
I am possibly selling one of my completed project cars and thinking about perhaps upgrading my IDI as it will soon need money spent on it, injectors, pump, probably Rad, water pump that kind of stuff. Nothing major - but it should have an OD if I kept it. Like a GV, I know many here would say go...

I don't know if this has ever been brought up but I see lots of pictures posted of trucks for sale, or look at this one or that one, today the F350 in WA state with the Turbomaster and the 60k original mileage. My experience with Fords (60's to 90's) is that once the rig's odometer rolls over...
I am getting ready to install mechanical water temp gauge and thought since the coolant is sort of a orangish - greenish bilge water looking stuff I might flush it and change the coolant while I was in there. I have about 1500 miles on the truck now since it's 9 years behind the barn. I strip...
So I picked up the Glow Shift brand 1987-1997 Powerstroke Dual Gauge "A Pillar Pod" for my 1986. Couldn't find anything that was a direct fit Pillar Mount so I figured I would give this a try. It seems to fit reasonably well and I will hit it with the heat gun and contour the top edges a...
Looking for a nice pair of 1987 - 1996 red cloth sun visors with rods and 3 screw pivot attaching plate and the (2) plastic clips that the visors clip onto when locked in place. These are to replace the poorly designed factory ones on my 86 F250 Lariat. On the ones I have seen the DS has a...
Got a new windshield installed today and figured the natural order of things now will be to fix the sun visors. Not sure which guy at Ford thought he could design visors without a way to hold them up or keep them from flopping around but hopefully he has moved to a new line of work. Looking to...
So I figure it's time to get some accurate mechanical gauges in my truck. I already have a Banks Trio on the dash and wanted to add a pair of 2" A pillar gauges. It seems in searching there are no exact fit parts. Seems like I read that someone had either used one of these and it fit pretty...
I am trying to get an idea what I should see for boost from my 86 6.9 Gen 1 Banks less than 100k miles on engine and probably 50-60k on Banks w/ a C6 AT and 4.10 gears. I have the original Banks 3 gauge cluster on dash with I believe an Isspro boost gauge. When I got this all going a couple of...
My truck has the original 6.9 1st Gen Banks gauge trio on the dash, oil temp (seems to work) runs up to about 150 degrees doing lazy hiway cruising, boost (works good now with all the air leaks fixed) get about 5 to 7 pounds under good empty load. The Pyrometer seems to never move off the 350...
