Scotty,
What Does SuperF350's 6.9 need? I mean, do you need to put your lower assembly in his block? If that's the case then yes you should hone it. If you have the cash re-ring it. Rings aren't that expensive, but you can get by running yours...for a long time most likely.
I know of a...
Scott,
I'm a little unclear on what SuperF350 has. Does he basically have a complete 6.9 minus the heads and fuel system? If that's what he has, then I'd look at the cylinders to check the ridge and for scuff marks. If that looks ok then I'd move on to your heads.
If you truly have a...
Scotty,
You've really had a bad run man! Can't say anything that hasn't already been said.
I found a used 6.9 engine here in Minnesota, I'd volunteer to pick it up and drive it the first leg of the race this weekend, if we could find a few more people between us...$1500 is what they are...
Before I got involved with Oilburners or tds I called banks and talked to a fellow in the tech dept. He said there were a ton of people putting IC's on there old IDI rigs. He said it didn't make a huge difference, but it does give you improvement. Then he went on to basically say the things...
Can't remember who did it this way, but you can bleed it from the slave cylinder under the pickup. I did mine this way with fair results. No matter how you look at it, it's a pita. I think the best way is with a pressure bleeder, but they are expensive...maybe you could borrow one from a...
Heath,
DirtyShovel PM'd me a while back about a tach at TDS. I PM'd back to see if he's still got it around. I'll let you know what I come up with.
Paul
Not sure if you've found some experimental v-covers yet, but here's a set in case you're still looking.
Also, I noticed that you found a set of exhaust manifold from a bus...I think there is a set on ebay right now from a pickup.
Paul
Does not get much sweeter than that. Does it drive straight down the road Mel, or do you have to get it aligned? Any hitches in your giddyup? I mean other than the filler hole and the pipes is there anything that needs work?
The first day I got the new engine in my rig, I was running it...
I've got side to side play in my sidewinder. Like Rob says it's typical with turbo's with a bushing instead of bearings. Not sure how long the bone yard had the turbo, or how well they protected the oil supply and return lines. I agree with Rob that you should try and get some lube...
Heath,
Thanks. It sounds like you got a pretty thorough kit. Good idea to get one with all new springs.
I don't know if you've figured out how you're going to get it out of the garage yet or not, but I can offer you a suggestion. My fiancee's dad built a tractor in his garage and once...
Heath,
Did you have to drill holes for the shock towers or the crossmember? The rear blocks that you used off your F350, are they 3" wide? Did the skyjacker kit come with poly bushings, or did you have to buy those separate? Does the spring pack that came with your kit have more or less...
The Ford's lock, so that all the spring pressure is released. Then you just pull them off. The Chevy's got a little tab that is suppose to lock on the wiper post. You have to push it with a screwdriver while your pulling it off under spring tension...it's a real pita. I think the chevy way...
Heath,
Really nice looking work. Nice clean up on the D60. She's a sharp looking rig!
I'm still in the middle of my project and have my D60 in the same state of affairs. I've just been planning on using the late model driveshaft. Isn't it thinner hence it will clear the F250...
