    Ford Part Numbers

Thank you all for making the time to reply. I've saved all of your advice and resources, and I'm pretty sure I'll be using them. I work on chainsaws [Stihls], and I was able to just by the CD that has every model and every part number all the way back to probably the 80's. I was foolishly hoping...

    Ford Part Numbers

Hi all. Hey, quick question. The most confounding thing for me many times is to need a part and not have access to the part number. No, I don't need anyone posting part numbers, I simply cannot verify them and find myself, yet again, bugging the dealership for a part number that both they and I...

    Transmission swap from a "c6" to a "e4od"

I did some research a ways back. Bauman made a good unit, and it is designed for such applications.

    E4OD Upgrade

Question: Bauman Computer suggested for an E4OD upgrade, from a C6. That requires the VSS and probably other input. What I'd like an educated opinion on: If I use the MANUAL valve body,do I even need the Computer or speed sensor? I have a manual valve body in my C6 right now, and I decide the...

    1987 6.9 c6 to e4od questions

Bauman computer, E40D built to 97 specs, VSS, TPS, correct flexplate, Triple disk torque converter. I spent a bit of time researching this. Realistic cost for correctly built tranny and equipment would be about $6500. I also figure there has to be a fudge factor with anything like that, so I'd...

    Engine-Tech Head Gaskets

I guess my main concern at this point is knowing the quality of these components before I go to get them. I could drive over to Idaho, and get the OEM lifters and cam, but this outfit is a lot less. I like their write up and manufacturing process but I live by the addage (I think Reagan said...

    Engine-Tech Head Gaskets

Great info. The truth is, I really don't know what's in there. You have made me think, however, that I'd better just wait to see before I go and start spending a bunch of money for the wrong parts. Truth is, I imagine it's bone stock, so I imagine it's the flat tappet. It would have been...

    Head gasket question

Yup, gonna have to wait till spring. I do like the way you did yours with the hoist. You probably saved yourself from having to buy another set of HGs.

    Engine-Tech Head Gaskets

Looking at this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/88-94-Ford-Navistar-7-3L-IDI-Cam-CAMSHAFT-LIFTERS-/110910726851?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19d2cb62c3 Wonder if anyone out there knows anything about Engine-Tech products? Was looking for VR Head Gaskets, and saw these. Any...

    Head gasket question

In my case, I have oil leaking, and I'd like to get the whole block cleaned off, front mainseals, waterpump, intake manifold, and head gaskets replaced. With all that, I have an engine hoist and tractor bucket, and 12+ ceilings, so I'm inclined to pull it, but I sure appreciate both methods.

    Head gasket question

If you had it all over to do, would you pull the block or not?

    Replacing water pump

I like the looks of that AC Delco pump. Ford has the Motorcraft one in stock. Anythoughts on that one? I agree about the cheaper versions, even if they are lifetime warranty, but. I also want new. SO, what about the Motorcraft one?

    usdieselparts.com ?

I travel some lonely roads. A tow bill is, minimume: $500.00, not to mention one cold night in the snow. Soooooo.......Mel's $, in the long run, I bet I'm more than that ahead. Shoot, two tows and it's paid for.

    Speedometer Repair/Rebuild

Had great experience with this rebuilder. They rebuild and calibrated my speedometer in about five days (turnaround). Polite, professional and so far, great work. I bought a new speedometer for $250.00, was not happy. This outfit rebuilt mine for around $90.00 and change. Thanks for the...

    e4od vs c6 on 7.3 idi?????

I comes from a mechanical action in the torque converter. I also build a LOT of heat on climbs. Mind you, all my climbs are a minimum of 4000+, usually 5000+ to get anywhere, so I'm climbing 20 miles any direction I go.

    e4od vs c6 on 7.3 idi?????

Yup, I did get a Derale, and a new grille. It's an aluminum, billet grille, and should provide much more room up front, as this new unit is 5+ inches thick. Gonna take some fabricating, but it'll be worth it.

    e4od vs c6 on 7.3 idi?????

I did a great deal of researd, as I have the 88', 7.3 liter, C6. To convert, it seemed simple enough, but I really estimate it to be about $6500. Doing your own work would shave a lot off of that, but plenty of time and somewhere to work on it. To convert: Bauman computer (an absolute must)...

I have a Chevy, TH400 Tailshaft for a P type, Gear Vendor overdrive. This is the full meal deal with all the bushings, speedo linkage etc. Give me a shout, and I'll E-Mail you a picture. I'd rather you look at the picture so you know just what you're getting. Don't know what it's worth. It's...

    C6 tranny.

Just towed both my D2 Caterpillar dozers with the old c6. Rebuilt it this spring along with the tranfer case. Have Amsoil fluid and an auxiliary, tube and fin cooler in series with radiator cooler. 32 degrees F out, pulling out of the Okanogan Valley from roughly 1260 feet above sea level to...

About the Powerstroke sending unit: I understand you to say it fits right in with no problems? Is the wiring straightforward?

New fuel tanks and sending unit source found

Well, I contacted Tanks to Pans, and Spectrum, the manufacturer of the fuel sending units. They don't make one for the diesel. One was listed for the 87-89, Ford F-250, yet, no dice on the 7.3 diesel application. Dead end there. Nice tanks though.

    Tranny Cooler

Synthetic fluid and a gauge are the big helps. I pull a pass with about a 4000+ foot gain in 22 miles. I overheat all the time, so I need a fan on my cooling unit, because the airflow is not great at the lower, climbing speeds. Might be a fix for in town; however, a bigger cooler, sans the fan...

    fuel filter issues need help

The first troubleshoot: Have you ran the tank empty? Have you put an additive or biodiesel in? If you have not done this before, and made any kind of change, it can flush all the garbage and buildup out of the tank and foul the filter. Filter Barn is great, and go with the quality...
