About this slip joint...

Hey everyone. What would you do here? Get a 3.5" v flange and go OVER the 3 3/8" O.D of the turbo housing; (on the left) then get 3" to 3.5" adapter to bump up the down pipe ( on the right ) to 3.5 and then weld the other side of the v flange to it

OR

Get a 3" v flange and go OVER the down pipe then get a small section of 3" pipe and go IN the turbo and weld it up ( with cast iron welding procedures ) then weld on a 3" v flange on that.

Id buy a factory ford housing and modify it for a v-band. Then sell this housing and down pipe to someone else. Guys are always looking for the ats stuff.

Thank you for your reply. But wouldn't the factory housing already be a choke point that we are trying to alleviate? Or is the bigger problem the down pipe?

Well idk, it seems the biggest issue with the factory systems are the crushed downpipe. The housing is said to be a tad restrictive, but the factory downpipe is the biggest restriction.

Is it leaking or something? The 3.5 inch downpipe idea would be cool though if it could fit?

Check with R&D idi performance - they mod factory housings with v-band flanges. At least you can see pics.
Also, I think typ4 (user here) does mods on these turbos; he might be a good person to talk to.
