So I was replacing worn out door strikers and I must have put the passenger side one inboard too far. The door shut but it’s visibly further in and I cannot open it. Any tricks to get this door unstuck?
I’m wondering if it isn’t something like that. If the slop has added up enough that it won’t open the latch enough with the new, properly sized striker. For now, I put the old one back on and it works. I’m going to see about getting a replacement latch assembly.Could it be one of the nylon bushings on the latch inside the door?
No good repair is complete without ^^^^There were may tries and lots of swearing involved.
And I highly recommend finding one of the all metal interior door handle replacements--couldn't even tell ya how many plastic handles I've broken.
When the plastic Bushing wears out or goes missing, the door rattles or you have to slam it to get it to latch.
My buddy welded a piece of rebar onto his handle. Then he realized he did the wrong angle and it was exactly the same as before.Dorman sells the bushings in a small bubble pack as well at most auto parts stores. After I broke a metal handle or two I made my own out of an old tedder tine. Problem fixed permanently. You must be registered for see images attach
