So what did you do with your truck today?

I’m selling my 2004 currently. Can’t bring it on the move and don’t drive it enough.

Can’t beat the sound and reliability. Biggest issue with the boxer engine is anything more than 18 psi on the stock internals. Anything pre 2015 had the unequal length headers giving them the rumble. Third Subaru now and love em.

Old ones are easy to work on once you remove most of the plastic stuff! Spark plugs are a pain though.
Yeah I’ve been reading about them a lot on some forums lol. I’d love to be able to drive something other than the idi every day. I love the truck but sometimes a car is nice

Here’s a pull from a few months ago during tuning.

The only real downside to the Subies is that they have gas engines and computers. They're peachy when they're working, and endless trouble when they aren't.

I got the check engine light to go out for a while on a '96, and one of my kids said ``Dad, the bulb burned out.''

@saburai

Well... I pressure tested the radiator from Diego today....

And she's still leaking. One place that could be welded, another that I don't think can.

Right in the corner there's another crack, just to the right of where I got it welded. That could be fixed.

But it's also weeping from somewhere up top here inside where the core meets the tank. That isn't something I can just have him patch up...

It's also pretty rusty here and although I don't see it leaking, I don't know how long it has left.

Super bummed but I guess I might be radiator shopping now. I'm considering the one in my parts truck, but the frame is gone so I can't imagine the radiator being in the best shape either.

@laserjock what issues did you have with the first champion radiator you had? I recall you saying they upgraded you or something?

Nope. Wasn’t me. I’m still on my first one. It’s a 3 core. I’d love to have a 4 core. They weren’t available yet when I bought mine. It was one of my first purchases for the truck actually.

Hmm, might have been Catbird then. I take it yours is still holding up good right? You've got a couple years on it by now don't you?

Far as I know it’s fine. It’s not got a ton of miles on it but it’s been in there since like...Geeze... very late 2015 very early 2016?? There might be 10k miles on it.

Well it was yesterday but I'm slow.

Recharged the A/C on Big Ugly. Again. This time though I only recharged it so I could do a bubble test. Tried the dye kit once and yeah never again.

Background. Every component in my AC was replaced last year with the exception of the hoses. It works just leaks down after 3 months or so.

So vacuumed for 45 minutes, charged the system and soapy water sprayed all over the damned place.

Found my leak. Man I'm an idiot. Leaking at the r12 to r134 adapter on the filter/drier that's been on there the last 3 times I've tried to fix this issue. Removed adapter no more leak.

The reason I didn't find this with the dye system is that's where you add the dye so the color is already there.

Anyhow at least I should now have a reliable non leaking AC system.

Yep, unfortunately it was me. I had terrible luck with their product. There's two of them in my scrap aluminum pile and we shipped two back. Shipping damage was always an issue. Leaks consistently developed between tank & cores. I will say the company always stood behind their product, I gave up on them before they gave up on me. Truck currently has a factory four core seems to work fine however it's no match appearance wise compared to the aluminum.

Yeah after reading many similar reviews and hemming and hawing I finally bit the bullet and ordered a Mishimoto rad tonight. I've heard very good things about their customer service, but I'm honestly hoping the extra $100 in the price means I don't need it.

A radiator and coolant is NOT something I want to keep fighting with, a great warranty isn't worth it if you have to keep replacing it.

Thanks for the reply!
