When I was running wires to the switch for my fuel tank transfer pump, I noticed a big grey plastic connector loose with a big white plastic module next to it. I pulled the module out and Googled the Ford part number.

For some weird reason, someone unplugged the "key in ignition" warning module. I guess they found it annoying? I mean, the driver door has to open before it goes off. It's also for seat belts but I have lap belts only with no wires, so that function is useless.

I reconnected it and it works fine.

It's not a headlight reminder which seems like a missed opportunity. I could use that more than a key reminder.

Most people do unug them. Nothing weird/odd there. Lol

My thought is maybe a repair shop did it and forgot to put it back. Why would you not want that? Seems odd to me.

Spend an hour under the dashboard chasing gremlins, and report back on why it's unhooked

That crossed my mind. It's not hard to get at though. It's down at the floor, so unhooking it again is no big deal if stuff goes wonky.

Mines unplugged. My truck is a hunting truck though and I don't want the extra noise. Now a headlights are on warning chime, that would be swell. PO of my truck purposely removed the ducting for the air cleaner. I asked him why he said to get more air! I replied uh, more HOT air?

How about PO removing reverse light bulbs! Incognito?

Chimes are one of the first to go.

At least Ford had the option to unplug them. I remember when I was a kid my grandma bought a 79 Buick Estate Wagon. She very much disliked the buzzer (She refused to wear a seat belt) so she had it disconnected (not at the dealership) and drove it home. Shortly after she had it unplugged we (Dad, Mom, Grandma and I) headed off somewhere. Dad soon figured out the power locks and windows didn't work. So dad checked the fuse, and it was fine. Also figured out some of the electronics weren't working. Since it was new, she took it in for a warranty repair. They found the seat belt buzzer had come disconnected, and once reconnected everything worked. GM made it so if you unhooked the seat belt buzzer, most of the electronics stopped working...

Now fast forward 40 years, most vehicles will set off the seat belt chime for BOTH front seats.

On the early Excursions: you could just push the orange button on the driver's seat belt latch and it would turn off the fasten seat belt chime. I remember when my buddy sold that Excursion and bought a brand new 2005 F250 and he was pretty saddened that the same orange button trick wouldn't work

When I got my current 85 F250, most of the steering column had been gutted. The wheel itself was there as well as the turn signal switch. There was no key, but that was ok since the steering lock had been removed. The ignition switch was hanging from the bottom of the steering column by it's wires. The rod that is supposed to run from the actuator to the ignition switch had been cut about in half, bent in a 90*, and was what you used to manually turn the ignition switch on and off. At first, i didn't mind since I had just bought it for parts. I had been dropped off where the truck was with a couple of batteries, a spare tire, a few tools, some blankets (it was January after all), and the hope that I could get it running so that I could drive it the 180 miles back home. Of course, me being me, I ended up driving another 50 miles away from home to see my brother. By the time that I was about half way home, the next day, I decided that I liked the truck and that I wanted to start driving it. It was then that I started to regret some of the things that had been done to the truck. It made it home just fine. It was just some of the other things that I was shaking my head at.

I know a guy that has a obs powerstroke, the whole underside was coated with expanding foam. Not sure the reasoning or thought process.
