Any solutions for GOOD cabin lights? In the dark when my door is open I can see only about 30% better than when its closed. The light cover is fine, but it's just translucent beige plastic, OEM AFAIK.

Any killer mods/ideas/hacks? I'd like some boot-level lights too to see stuff on the floor.

Thanks!
Joshua

Thanks guys! I guess they sell clear covers? And I didn't know they made LEDs for the bullet-type bulbs for these, been thinking about that for a while I just keep forgetting to ask or look it up.

Looks like my google-fu was weak today! After getting off my digital ass and searching, FTE had this handy set of answers back in 2015:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1407871-replacement-of-interior-dome-light.html

Apparently swap a 1997 Ford dome light FTW. And as said switch to LED bulb too.
I'd love to add shin-level lights up front and hip-level lights in the back seat so I can actually see my tools and stuff on the floor too. If i do it i would go LEDs and wire it into the door switch for ease and I'll make a write-up on it.

I have one of the clear covers in my truck, it's a noticeable improvement over the milky OEM cover. I got mine off Ebay but I can't find it there anymore, but LMC has a clear lens listed and an LED bulb too. I just ordered the LED now for kicks and giggles, I've been happy with just the clear cover but there's nothing like overkill :D

I have a dome dight from a 90-something Taurus in mine (probably the same as that 97 one). It lights up my crew cab enough for me. Anything more I need I just use a flashlight. I haven't put LEDs in it either. Popped right in with no modifications required.

If you don't have enough up front, I put a mirror in that has map lights in it. I haven't wired it up yet but it's an option lol!

I also bought the LMC lens and it made huge difference. Also switching to obs door panels adds the low mounted light on door.

if you do a 6 door build, you can have 3 of these crappy lights!! lol
seriously, I don't have an issue with mine, lights up the truck well.
I'm sure the 96 door panels with the lights help as well
