Yes, a few. Search Google for some zf5 rebuild threads. Not exactly something everyone wants to do.
Could be fuel from the valley.

I'm not exactly keen on doing it, but I can't really afford the alternative of paying someone else to do it.

The valley pain drains into the transmission?

It drains behind the flywheel.

I thought it ended up draining off the block near the starter. That seems like a really bad place to drain if it's by the flywheel. Can you modify that with a plug + holes in the pan?

Well you could plug the hole, but then when anything leaks or get rain, it'll turn the valley into a swimming pool. Not exactly smart.

I thought someone might have drained it elsewhere to avoid soaking the flywheel in the event of a leak.

I guess you've never met a engineer before. Lol

I resemble that remark.

I'm actually going to school for engineering.

Or the elusive welding inspector.
"I can't even strike an arc, but you welded that wrong."

Hahahaha hey now I'm a CWI! I literally watched a guy that rolled up into a shop one day for a 3G/4G structural MIG test tap the gun nozzle on the work piece... He was trying to strike an arc with the wire........... Needless to say, we didn't even bother any more with him.

No the vallkey pan does drain by the starter. It will not get the clutch wet by draining a leak.

Look what we've started now! Haha...

Anyway, i got a transmission jack from harbor freight, and I was warned that I should pay special attention while trying to move the transmission. Heard a horror story about the smaller scissor lift type tipping and nearly breaking someone's arm, so I got the larger type with adjustable arms.
