Hey guys...

I'm working on a '95 sterling 10.25. One of the oil slingers was destroyed. The wheel bearings and scottseal xl that I have are for a '90 which do not use the oil slingers (wheel bearings are different 3992 vs 3994 timken numbers)

I assume I can run the older 3994 bearing and older design scottseal xl and just delete the slingers all together?

Why not just use the right PARTS? Lol

Sounds like he already has the older seals on hand. I'd rather use what I have than go buy more....

Because I have $70 worth of bearings and seals that I can't return and want to know if I can use them. They are right for my year of truck... they updated the seal as of '94. They didn't change the spindle or hub as far as I know... and I don't need the "upgraded" factory seal as I'm using the scottseal xl plus. I also don't care for the oil slingers as I've seen quite a few posts about those slingers being destroyed and eating wheel bearings, etc..

With that said... will the older bearing/seal work in place of the newer thin bearing/slinger/seal?

Don't quote me on this but I think the different bearing is to give room for the slinger.

This is the seal I used.

Not sure which was which. I put back whatever was inside.

I don't think the scotseal will care where it rides as long as it's clean and smooth. But I'm no expert. I've only ever used them once and they haven't been on the road yet.

LOL

The old style parts will work just fine on the newer axle. You can also put the the original bearing in without the baffle and all that will happen is you tire moves in a tiny bit.
