The Clanp on the Y pipe is a nice touch.

Good chance that clamp is actually factory setup with that pipe. Seen it before, in a kit for sale online. Details are non-existant, but the Y-pipe was indeed a 2-piece design with a clamp between the two parts.

Riot, what you did to them e-brake cables is something I recall Midnight Rider (souther guy with a Cummins-powered slantnose 1-ton) mentioned he does to throttle cables to make them last forever. So you're most certainly not reinventing the wheel there, it's a tried and true way of keeping things nice and smooth-moving.

when i pulled my cables, i threw them in a 5 gal bucket of used engine oil.
same concept without any of the climbing.
washed them in the parts washer and re-lubed with clean WD

like butta!

I bought new ones. Rusty steel cable is still rusty even if it slides nice it still may be weak. Just my take on it. They are brake parts and that's the one place I don't cut corners. Yeah, I lived with out them for a long time before but for the cost of replacements, to me, at this stage in life it's not worth the trouble to mess with them. I think I had 35$ in all new cable front to back.

Just my rust belt on it.

my cables were stiff from sitting but are not rusty that I could tell...now they are smoother than factory fresh!!

I figure that since one currently on truck is missing an end and doesnt work. Working cables are better than non working ones.

Maybe my attitude is wrong but its mine and I like it....same as my opinion!

If new were that cheap here I would be all over them.

LCAM I am aware it isnt reingenting the wheel...just an easy way to lube and inspect.

Absolutely. Working better than non. I'm all for doing the best you can with what you have. I've been there man.

I've bought a bunch of my truck stuff from Amazon. You wouldn't believe the price difference from the parts stores. Don't know how they operate up north but I've done well for the same brands or even better brands on a lot of things. Just an FYI.

Looks like might be pulling Y/up pipe assembly off to drop trans...might even be pulling DP off too ugh...friggen ugly up there thats all i can say...

So dinner consists of a nice bbq chi ken ****** on cheese bun with apple wood smoked bacon and aged sharp cheddar onion sliced and a slice of pineapple. Some fries and maybe a beer or too....

Am beat lost a good flash light and now need rest...

After an exceptionally rough sleep...back pain...got up started laundry a d coffee and breakfast.

Brian shows up with flashlight I missplaced...was on trail where I walk Sherydan

So back on track...ya...3 bolts...but wait theres more...to get those three bolts requires zome exhaust clamps and Y/up pipe to be removed so 12 more bolts nuts etc.

Gander here now....down pipe off...

Now get trans off jack...no biggy it wont take long...left it on jack out for lunch and do some laundry.

Not before some shots of Y/up pipe...any wonder I could only see 4 lbs boost?????...the other Y pipe is one I am considering attempting to make work with the UP pipe portion...it was in the E4OD truck.

Ok...will be a really good idea.

Well the trans got drained and I have a multipurpose board setup that I use...fits on jack...slide trans from jack down onto sloping board...slid trans to floor gentl as butter melting on hot pancakes!!

TC is upsode down draining in a pan...tomorrow vaccum it out with special tool. Also tip and re drain trans.

Will inspect more carefully for leak I have see if I can slow it down some or stop it completely.

I have an empty front half of a ZF so I can work at test fitting it and the Y/up pipe and down pipe and mod or adjust as needed. Once I have the turbo pipes worked up properly and working smoothely I will work on flywheel and clutch install then onto the transmission.

I will do a short video aka TECH 101 2 min tech on how I have found to be the simplest way to install the clutch slave.

Enough for today time for dinner and hot bath n shower.

Now onto fitting. Man that empty front half of case is sooo nice to work with for making sure pipes and so forth line up it is amazing.

For starters here is where a problem or two exist from my perspective.

That large TAB and a few Ribs up near top bolt and up pipe.

Ok so 1/2 case out from under truck and I cut the tab off carefully with sawsall

Forgot phone/camera out on truck...so couldnt take more pics..up and down pipes fit. Other good y pipe fits too so need cut and turn and work out fitment....
