Gary not sure on the ground location but I'd check at the firewall on the drivers side. Then behind drivers headlight and drivers fender for ground locations.

This seems like a bad ground to me. But I've not had an e40d in my truck for many years.

Hi Gary it could be one of two fuses. On the fuse panel under the dash fuse number 17 a 10 amp fuse. Or in the power distribution box item number 17 a 50 amp maxi fuse. Hope this helps

Thank, I will check this today. I do not have a power distribution box under the hood. My truck is an 89. Best I know is all I have is an under dash fuse panel and that has been broken loose so many times its now hell installing any fuse. Nearly impossible to hold the panel while you push in a fuse.

I tagged trackspeeder and F250, maybe they will be along and can help. I've seen them give a lot E4DOA advice.

Thanks. I will watch for them to comment on this issue. So far I have the voltage at the behind the dash wire harness lug of 12 volt key on engine off. But have not gone much farther besides removing the ta ch from the bezel. The testing of the tach tells me if lug 13 has 12 volts and the tach still does not work then its a bad tach. Really not sure because I'm new to all this.

You have the old school fuse panel under the dash. I don't remember the number, but the fuse is there. I bet it's blown.

No power the the TCM will give you a dim light and no tach. Seeing that you changed the TCM relay, you can rule that out. Go for the fuse panel.

Thanks for the offer Al but can't really wait. Am going to "find a tach" in wrecking yard and test that hoping its a good tach. If I end up with 2 bad tachs I wont know right away but will see about purchasing the yard warranty. I looked on ebay bout didn't find my dash tach. But who knows what tomorrow will bring. May end up taking you up on the dash later but we will see. I really do not need a complete dash but who knows if the plastic circut has gone bad. It looks discolored.
