ive read about you guys using the GM & Ford block off plates.
only to install them to have them leak.
this part is actually too big to fit inside the casting of the block.
i installed one last night only to have it leak.

so i took my old garbage lift pump and cut the arm off of it.
bolted the plate to it to see exactly where it needed to be modified.
mine was hitting on the lower part and actually bent the plate upon first install
a baby beater brought it back to flat.

then i took my grinder and ground the plate down to where i hit aluminum...

this is for the people that buy this plate at your local auto store.
they do make a plate thats a direct bolt on, but you have to order it online.
it took me less than 15 minutes from disassemble to finish.

In my electric pump thread in tech....there is a good picture of the small lip that the plate rides on and causes leaks..that's what likely happened to you...

STOP RUSHING...do it carefully...do it right...do it once!

bottom line...only you can prevent leaks...

See here now my friend. If you would have bought the Spectre brand BOP like I said from the get-go, you would not have had a problem. LOL LOL

Hers another tip that may help others. Make sure the old bolts used to fasten the mechanical lift pump are not too long and bottom on the threads in the block. That has happened to a member not long ago too. Buy new shorter or cut off some threads or use a few washers but make sure you see whats going on. An oil leak is not fun. AQMD can track you down by your trail you leave...

It's a special order for most shops (AZ as well, I checked), unless your local parts store has a 'high performance' section (and I'm talking the one with cams and heads, not fartcans and conical air filters).

I bought mine on Amazon, like I do most things nowadays.

Yes, it can go on upside down haha. And this one also comes with the bolts. Ordered mine off Amazon as well. Not saying anything bad about you IDIot, just hoping more people see that there's a better option before they have to do the job twice; which I believe is why you started this thread!

Actually guys therte is still another option for a block off plate. Get just a standard gasket for the lift pump. Then cut out a plate from 1/4 or 3/8 aluminum. Grind it to fit on a disc or belt sander. If the [plate you make matches the gasket it will fit great. A word of caution too. Sanding aluminum on a belt or disc makes it hot really quickly. Have some water handy to dunk it.

There is yet another option. Purists will not like this. Loop a hose input to output of the lift pump.

why even loop a hose?
once all the diesel gets pushed out, theres nothing to worry about.
