Thanks for the reply. sounds like mel took care of you and has delivered a great product again. bet you cant wait to get a 'cooler huh?! hope you get your timing fixed, that should help with the temps as well. In all honesty 16-18 is not that bad. i get about 17.5 with my truck all stock, i do have a big lumber rack dragging in the wind, but your numbers are not that far off.

Glad to hear things are going well. That is an odd problem your having with the timing, but weird things do occasionally happen.

By way better gearing what do you mean, that the wider gear spread is nicer? Most folks seem to complain that the gap between 3rd and 4th is too big, and they have to nearly redline it in the lower gear so that when they upshift the engine is still in its powerband...

Which Ford one tho? Cause there were at least three t19 versions - it's my understanding that most gassers got the creeper first gear (which is the trans with the large gaps between the gears), some gassers got the 5:1 first gear, and all diesels got the close-ratio trans with 4:1 first. I got the standard diesel-issue close ratio and I quite like it, still while starting up a hill I could definitely use a splitter between 1-2 and 2-3, and then on the high side of 4th of course for interstate cruising. I'd imagine with a wide-ratio creeper-first trans that would be even more noticeable. But then again I'm used to 200-300 rpm drops so it could be purely subjective...

My trans is an np435 not a t19. 2nd gear in the zf5 would ***** the truck out but first was too low. With the 435 i can comfortably start off in 2nd and its spaced just right. The t19 in my rollback does just as you say. I have to rev it out from 3 to 4. I missthe od but the big tires make up for it. Next step is to go back to a stock pump
