So, how many pins are in the new one? I simply ask because I was just trying to compare it to one I have sitting in front of me. Thanks!

We just used an open end wrench to change it. Granted, the angle is not the best, but then you don't have to do that much tightening either.

Interesting. Yours has the same number of pins. Maybe they figured out people would freak if the number wasn't the same.

My 2 year old Delphi controller took a dump this morning, I turn the key and the light only comes on for a second but when I finally got it started, the afterglow cycle still works.
I guess I'll get into ebay and order the one that Mel got.

Well if mine was ever to fail in my new '85 E350 van, I'd get one of those my self! But it does already have a push button switch on it, but the controller remained connected, so it still had automatic glow plugs, but apparently, they didn't work sometimes. Witch is why the switch was installed. I disconnected the controller, and it's full manual now.

Awwww look at all that room I got to work on it :D

Mel any feedback on how the controller has been working out for you? My original GPC just failed (in the open position) and im looking for something to swap it out.

I wish they would have made those things back when I had my little cheby Celebrity diesel , it used the same setup for a GP controller and I had a couple of those critters fail on me

Doesn't take me any longer to get the air cleaner off in the vans than it took me in my F250.

Just a lil less room to shove your hand in there, and twist the wing nut with your finger tips.

I have been using the diesel logic controller in my 85 for 6 or 8 months now and no problems. Well, there appears to be a loose pin in the plug, but I think its the plug not the controller.
