U can't buy em at all. You can pickup a decent m818 from 2500 to 6k from gov liquidators or other places. The cav conversion ran me about 3k for all of it. Are u wanting to buy one? Text me at 901 500 3188 if u r.

simp, are you saying a 392 is bigger? its a SV motor, weighs around 800-850ish and is just a little bit smaller than a 6.9. the scouts came with a 345, and they're the same thing as a 392. the 6.9 in my scout fills the engine bay a bit more than a 345.

I agree we need more IDIs in things. My dad was wanting to get a 71 or 72 IH pickup and do a 7.3 IDI in it. Would it fit?

f250, a 6.9/7.3 is a perfect swap for them, they have a ton more room than an scout and the best part is it's pretty straight forward, if you use a 2wd trans you just need a jack shaft. check out the binderplanet.com there's a few people that put them in IH pickups. if yoy have any questions just ask, i have a few D series pickups too. ;Sweet

The 392 is wider manifold to manifold than the 6.9. The one i have is 2ft 6inches across, and the 6.9 is 2ft 4 inches across. Hint why I think i might run into a problem on my 6x6 is cause the frame 2ft 2inches wide. but with the sae2 adapter it will sit up higher out of the frame. Weight wise I dont know which is heavier.

weird, i never measured, but the manifold almost hits the steering bar from the box to column in my scout, i actually had to loosen the column and turn the whole thing a little to get around the 6.9 manifold. the 345/392 clears in a scout engine bay with rook to spare!

not bad. yeah they sold a couple of those up here at the afb with less than 200 miles on them in 818s for $2800 or so each. cause it was so far noone would bid. that one will go for 4-6k more than likely . 818s are good but u only get 4mpg from the na250 cummins. and u need to put a jersey barrier on the back of it if ur gonna drive it around because they hop pretty bad going down the road. All of my trucks that i can put them on the back get 2 jersey barriers strapped over the rear axle. My 5 ton even with holes in 2 pistons would go anywhere with the barriers on the back and chains all the way around with duals up front. it was FUN!!!

5 ton trucks like the 818 are nice but the only issue is that the transfer case is a sprag operation unlike the deuce that has a air front engagement.

The dual one in the picturee is a buddy of mines... the other one is an M813, basically what an 818 is just with the cargo bed. It is located in west virginia and is for sale for $2800 if anyone is interested let me know.
