I had a few old injectors laying around so I got to taking them apart. Dont seem very difficult as a DIY or is there more to rebuilding them? I know id need to make a pop tester to do this. Where would I be able to buy the parts to rebuild them?

Anyone have a picture of the internal parts of our injectors? What typically goes wrong in them? Is it the spring that changes the pop pressure? I do see there are washers on the springs is this to adjust the pop pressure also?

Whats the ideal pop pressure for a turboed motor?

Why do you need a pic? You see all the parts when you take one apart.
Pop pressure= 1850 to 1900
You need a pop tester.
The SHIMS raise or lower the pop pressure. .001=40 PSI
Yes the spring weakens, add shims to up the pop pressure.
Carbon is usually the culprite on the nozzle and/or pintle.
No one seems to know where to get parts.
You need a good micrometer 0 to 1" or a digital caliper to measure shim thickness.
Search "icanfixall" break down of injectors.

What happens if your pop pressure is higher than the 1900? I have a few typ4 injectors that Im told from the PO that there setup to pop at 2300 psi.

put them back to 1900. 2300 doesnt help anything, put strain on the pump.

I think its time to build a pop tester! Whats all involved? A bottle jack, injector line, pressure gauge? Anything else? Anyone have any plans on building one?

You don't want to touch the piston inside. The heat from your hand will keep it from going back together, plus the acids on your skin will etch into the piston and can leak. ;Sweet

I think ive got a few other injectors laying around I can snag the shims if needed. Whatdo I do if I add shims and dont have the proper size shim to place in it? Can they be bought anywhere?

Oldbull, I have a HF bottle jack, but where else did you get your material to build your pop tester?

In this picture the disc in the bottom row of parts has a very fine machined surface where its metal to metal. That joint must be dry when you reassemble these injectors. The pintle or needle must have some diesel on it so it wont freeze up in the nozzle.

Is there anyone near me or that I can send my 6 injectors to to see what they pop at, and could re shim if necessary? I still need to contact type4 and see if he can still get me 2 of his injectors setup to the ones I have.

I bought a pop tester for about $200.00, works nice, I can dig up the purchase info if you would like.
