Ok so here's my confession.

Got a wild hair up my nameake yesterday, maybe the heat finally has affected me, but I got to looking at the dually fenders and the embarrasement to what they look like after a few years from a full restoration.

Yup, I used the wrong type of etching primer for the bare fiberglass and nothing is sticking to it.

I was actually peeling sheets of the paint off while talking to Travis yesterday afternoon as he was sippin berry beer.

So I was able to get both fenders off the trucks and the passenger side one is completely bare now awaiting a few repairs to the fiberglass that the gravel roads have caused the past few years.

In between awaiting the air compressor to recharge, I was able to finish the wiring to the 7 way plug and the brake controller, mounted and wired in the flood lights on the headache rack.

Overall it was a productive day given the 85 degre heat and fresh sunburn to boot.

This afternoon, I'll finish stripping the drivers side dually fender and get them both prepped for priming tomorrow, then get em painted, cleared and reinstalled hopefully before weeks end.

I still have to conduct some general lube and maintenance requirements on Goldie, get the trailer prepped to hit the road and process about 160 gallons of veggie.

As far as the intercooler goes, if it shows up this week, I may get it put on before we take off, but I feel it will be a post rally project.

I think I'll be cutting it close.cookoo

How do you get to those nuts in the front and rear top corners of the fenders? I had those missing when I got the truck, and it was a total bear installing new ones, is there any trick to them?

There's an access slot right behind em and yes it's a total PITA to get at em.

On my back laying on the tires, hands crampin boxed wrench turnin event that no one wishes on their worst enemy.

Box wrench is about the only way to get at em.

Those are really important to have on there as they bear a large portion of the fender weight.

We've been getting a lot of rain around here.. With my garage full of junk (I wonder where it all came from?!?!) it's not easy to do much to the truck.. Since my IP is starting to take a dump, guess what gets to go on it at the rally????

I will be re-wiring my brake controller and also running a dedicated power supply to my in-bed fuel tank's pump.. Hopefully today!

The other half said the drive from this coast to KY would be unbearable in the truck. How much would it cost to haul my truck over and back on a trailer? Afterall, it's not driving... :rotflmao:DLOL

typ4,
There is NO way Gary can be bored, he has TOO many projects going on at the same time. And I've added to his list of projects

But, I do pitch in and help :dunno, he just has to tell me what to do

She's talking about me.... I'm the one with way too much to do! I'm sure Gary (icanfixall) has all his projects neatly crammed behind the seats in his truck and ready for the rally!
