I got mine thanks. Bigger than I thought, and nicer too. Defiantly will need ot mount this under hood, rather than down on the frame like the old one...
Well, I finally found my fuel pressure regulator and pressure gauge today, so I set out to see if running the thing regulated down to stock lift pump pressure made any difference in the injection timing over running the pump unregulated.
I checked the timing running the pump wide open, then regulated down to 4.5-5 psi. If I REALLY used my imagination ( and I'm talking all the imagination of someone at the end of opening day staring at a doe trying to grow antlers on it
) it might have retarded the timing 1/4-1/2 deg regulating the pressure down.( that ferret doesn't dampen the pulses so you always get some variance , quite honestly, it looked the same, but I'm trying to give the " changes timing " theory the benefit of the doubt )
All that means is running one unregulated might advance your timing by 1/4-1/2 deg. Nothing to worry about ( and if my other theory is correct, a little advance on this new fuel wouldn't hurt a thing ) When I got done checking everything, I reset my timing to 10.5 deg btdc so see how it will act on the ULSD.
The injection pump and injectors on my engine only have around 6-7000 miles on them, and the filter less than 500 miles on it, so this was checked with a healthy injection system.

Would it make any difference in the output pressure if the pump was mounted under the hood vs on the frame rail?

I don't think it would be a noticable amount, it's able to lift 10' and you're only looking at maybe 18" max.

Hey Monte, I've sent a couple of emails to him and have not gotten anything back yet. It must be a nasty computer virus. I did get your payment and hopefully I'll get news shortly. He's been very good for the last 30 or so pumps, so this is very unusual and I haven't sent him any payment for the 9 pumps everyone is waiting for, so I know he's just having some major issues. Let me know if you can't wait and I can cancel your payment. Again, sorry for the delay.
The rated output pressure is at maximum lift., and you won't be sucking fuel anywhere near that high no matter where you stick it on the truck.

As long as my contact has them I'll make them available. I don't know what heat they can handle, but they are designed to live in a small box with a diesel engine running 24/7, but then the fuel may be helping keep them cooler.
