Mel, I remember reading on this site or elsewhere that part of the IDI/prechamber plan was that the fuel "splash" onto the precup for vaporization.
Is that still true with these multi-port designs or is that not necessary with your pump/these injectors?

Well these are all good questions. Before any answers can be known however, we have to walk the path. That takes a leap of faith on someones part. Who has an economic stimulus check they have no plans for?

"splash"

h2odrx, The link below (if I did it right) takes you to a page in the mammoth
'using glowplugs to supertune your engine' by crossbones in the Ford trucks forum. The entry, by xbones, is 1/2 to 2/3rds of the way down the page.

It sounds to me like this info is critical to the way we think about these idi
engines for performance and power.

I think there were other references to this topic in that thread.

I can, in addition to the Moose Pump, supply stock injectors at market prices if anybody wants a one stop shop when they order a pump.
A question regarding this. Would it by chance be possible to have the stock injectors available as a pre-tested and matched set? I don't necessarily need a high-performance set, but I am willing to pay a bit extra for injectors that are known to be in good shape and that pop off at the same pressure.

I'm planning to get a Moose Pump and a set of injectors at some point, but I'm going to try and nurse another year or so out of my current fuel system, if I can...

Ok,question....How much for a Pump and injectors without cores to supply?........Also,MAXED OUT!Don't want the turned down fuel screw and built to be streetable.....This is what I have been waiting on.I could have the E running on Stock parts but....I said to heck with spending more money on stock parts just to swap them out later.I WANT MAX FLOW!!!!I want Peterbilt fuel ecconomy too!I don't care about MPG......Not why I bought the E(Ok,Ok,I am not really sure WHY I bought the E.....).

My thought is better atomazation is going to help with economy more so than power.
Ford specs are not real picky about the spray patterns.
I say go fo it, I've thought about the same thing but I dont have the tools to do it and have not found a nozle that could be modified to work with the IDI injector body.

Mel,

Has the individual that would be doing this work done an IDI before? If so what engine? Did this engine have a precup or powercell? Would he have any information (even if it's just seat of pants) in terms of how the injectors performed? Longevity?

It seems you could be on the verge of something really exciting here. Thank you for taking the original leap of faith with the Moose Pump...and following it up with this possibility.

Not likely. If he had done them for an IDI before, then a lot of this wouldn't be guesswork. Like I said, if somebody wants them, they are going to have to be like Indiana Jones and walk across that bridge you can't see.
