i dunno give it a couple years they might grow on us. when the OBS came out, i remember not liking it. Same thing with the SD (thought it was a badly done Dodge Ram ripoff) now i think both are the best looking trucks out there. even the squinty eyes one the chevy trucks from the last few years look less alarmimg after the initial shock wears off.

but you'd think Ford could have come up with something a little less dramatic. maybe even a retro look like they did with the mustang. how about a 70's style updated pickup clone. that would sell like hotcakes.

I am not too keen on the design, but the black grill definately just makes it look cheap. Shiny would be a step in the right direction.
And I'll third what Geo said, OBS are sweet . Ford got that one right.
On a side note, I drove a brand new '07 F250 6.0 around for work this week and was glad every time I got back in my '91. Maybe because it already has scratches on it.

I agree it may grow on us... But why make something that has to grow, Make something that says... Man I gotta get one of those! The 'stang looks good because it is back to the days when cars had personality. Need to go back to designing to be functional, and have personality. Not bigger and better than the last guy, that leads to everything being almost the same....

Give me some personality in the design, and get me hooked on one.

Someone must be trying to destroy from the inside out. How could they ever get this design past study groups? I remember reading an article about an old dodge pickup, and it looked fine. People said they didn't like it, so dodge ended up making their legendary ram.

Now Ford must ask people what they think about certain designs, and people who hate one the most, they pick that one.

Only a decked out F450 with this new design looks even acceptable to me, the rest are just fugly...

I remember when Dodge rolled out the 94 trucks and I thought that was the worst a pickup could look then after a couple of years I thought that was one nice looking front end, then Ford rolled out the SD nose and I was in love. I thought they improved on ground work that Dodge had done. I think that if you would have posted one with a Chrome front grill it would look a ton better.

I was not happy with Chevrolet with they changed the nose of the C/K series truck but now... I want one...

I guess I'm just the type that doesn't like change...

I wanna know where the Tonka truck went that they showed at the auto show a few years ago. That was a nice design! My general problem with this look, is that they basically took a GM and a Dodge and put the two together. This is the first time that I can ever recal Ford building a truck with the turnsignal over the headlight. That's the GM influence. The grill goes up with the hood, and that's the Dodge part, but since the dang thing has 7 radiators, it's probably a good thing. Just don't hit anything with it. Whatever happened to Fenders? The 80's body's had big fenders and generous wheel wells. Seems the fenders now are just about touching the hood. I think the design could grow on a person, but it will take time. In general, my first impressions of all new Fords since 1987 has not really been favorable. The only two exceptions were the 99 superduties with the "contractor" headlights, and black grill, and the recent Mustangs. Of course I can't say GM or Dodge have done any better. Hopefully this will be one of those 4 year body styles that don't stick around long. Undoubtedly though, it isn't the body we should be worrying about. This 6.4 liter is really Ford's last chance to get it right. At 500HP and 850some pounds of torque, If this thing doesn't sing loud and strong without serious problems, there is a good chance the next body style we complain about will be thought of by a team of people who refer to us as "round eye".

It is butt ugly for sure. Funny thing, driving into Boston this morning I saw a billboard for a new Toyota and it has the same look. Somebody obviously copied.

Sure looks like Ford copied the toyota Tundra front end. Maybe thats not a bad thing either. For years "they" copied our trucks. Maybe our people finally have turned it around and did it back to them. I'm really not sold on the look either but time will tell. I don't like the corvetes much but I really like the Ford GT40 from the 60's. Sometimes classic lines just never go out of style. My 1937 Cord will be a design that never goes out of style and thats a 60 year old body style. I watch them come up for sale on Ebay motors and usually they go for $80,000.00 and up from there. Then there is the 1967 Cobra 427 side oiler selling for $600,000.00 or the Saleen S7 for $500,000.00 and up from there. Gees... I wish I had some money. Being cash poor really suxs bigtime here. Time to stay in the basement where my dreams are obtainable and not just out of reach. Ramble off... I'm back..

You could get the sealed beam headlamps in that style on the XL's from '99-'04.

Well, I can't say I remember seeing that one around much. But I figured it was possible if you went back far enough. The operative word there was "recal" which recalling is getting more difficult as time goes on.
