Today, actually yesterday but I just got home, I picked up a 5 sp donor truck.
96 F250 7.3 Powerstroke ZF5.
Engine is good but he pulled the injectors chasing a no start. New IDM as well. He suggested at this point it could be IPR wiring as he believes one of the wires is broken off the plug. We'll see. It might also be junk.
Anyway transmission shifts well and apparently clutch is newish. Again we'll see. But I got all the parts. Even the title.
Price for complete truck was comparable to what I am seeing a ZF 5 sell for by itself.
Also has Alcoas. Well 3 anyway.
Hauling it home was an adventure.
Everything was going well but about half way back I blew a trailer tire. I had already used the spare but hadn't replaced it yet so bummer.

I thought about my options and decided to pull a tire from the truck as a spare for the trailer.
Seems something is missing.

On the trailer. It's the one on the right.

Initially the tire was very low, but somehow, in the place I pulled into to assess and fix the problem, a National Forest Day use parking area, there was a Chinese guy, Shaun, hanging out there who offered up his air compressor. I must be living a charmed life. What are the chances of that? It was 11pm by this point.
So I finally was able to score a ZF-5 truck to swap in a manual to Big Ugly. I have been actively looking for over 3 years and failed countless times find the right deal. So looking forward to zero computers.
