@Nero I have had some results from a paintless dent repair shop that I was completely impressed with and at a very much lower cost than the body shop ($7,000 est was fixed for $250). They can whisper a lot of the metal back to original shape and if the paint didn't crack you may be able to stay original. I would at least go talk to one and have them look at it, with it on a place they have access to both sides I would bet they could do the repair for minimal cost.

Full tell on myself. I had park my little focus in a spot that I didn't usually and dinged it and my truck backing into it, but this is the repair they did for me.

Oops first

I thought about it, but unfortunately the paint has split in a few spots, and the seam seal on the bottom side has split too, so I'm kind of SOL and have to have it painted.

That's too bad, your insurance company will go after his insurance or him to make you whole. But in my experience (state farm) my agents have never been too helpful. I usually have to talk to the corporate adjusters to get the right steps taken

So far I have two quotes from two seperate shops, both are sitting close to the $3,000 mark for hood and cowl repair/paint and fender blend since the damage is so close.

As for me, today I drove my truck into work, so I could stop by that second shop for the quote. I also filled er up, this thirsty bit*h took just over 30 gallons of the premium green stuff... Now she sits in the driveway, until the next adventure....

If it was me, I'd ask the other party to cut you a check for the estimate less your deductible, have a good paintless dent guy get it as good as they can, and put the money into more fuel or other updates on your rig. I'm betting the valet at El Gaucho or Morton's might never be parking your truck, and that camper top won't care how perfect the paint is :p Just saying what I'd do, but as they say: opinions vary......

That old of a truck, wouldn`t be surprised if they didn`t total it. The way insurance co`s are.

Hood at PNP around $100, the cowel air intake plate maybe $75.
You are a Diesel mechanic, you must have connections with other shops and
some paint guy as a side job could knock that out in no time.

Go to the guy that damaged your truck and show the insurance estimates and have him cut a check
if he doesn`t want to go through his insurance co.

The quotes I've gotten won't total it, and the hood is still in remarkably good shape for its age. The plan is to fix it and paint it still, just waiting until Wednesday to light a fire under the guy to make him pay or go through insurance.

Went up to the Sam's club to grab some household supplies. When I came out I wasn't left a rubber duck but I was left this little guy

Fully wired in trailer brakes in prep of picking up my dads new trailer tomorrow. Not hard to do, still took 4ish hours to route the harness nicely.
That mean you guys held onto his truck too? Good luck with things
