New t-19 for the truck yesterday first time ever having a smooth shifting trans in this thing nearly 50k miles I’ve put on it so it’s about time
That sure is a Purdy Transmission.
My own thoughts, I feel the T-19 is a stronger trans than the
ZF-5 spd, just from things I have read.

Could throw in a 3 spd Brownie behind it.
Give you the OD, and also a lower 1st starting out with a load on a hill, and also in reverse, especially with a 3:55
Differential.

Those ZF5s seem plenty tough, but I know they have their limits on abuse. They can only take so much power when they’re out of spec, and aluminum isn’t the strongest material out there… I have blown a ZF5 to smithereens, from using too thick of oil, with probably wrong or maybe even no preload, and shifting and driving particularly aggressively. That was the ZF5 I swapped into my 86.

I bought my 91 F-Superduty with a transmission that had no 5th, and had a different unit to swap in its place. Rebuilding that took slightly less time and wasn’t nearly as much of a PITA as rebuilding the driveline brake behind it. Got it done in one weekend though. I’m glad I took the time to do it right.

I’ve not heard much of any bad stories about the T19s, they’re tough as nails.

I have one of those 3 speed brownie boxes, a Spicer 5831, with a 2.0 low, 1.0 direct, and a 0.73 overdrive. Was thinking of putting it in my 91, what with 5.13 rear gears, 2WD , and being really heavy and all. It didn’t come with a shift tower, but that probably wouldn’t be that hard for me to make. I might never get around to installing it, what with everything I’m doing to my 94, it should do better on the highway, offroad, with a trailer, and pretty much do anything my 91 can do, but better, and some things that 91 can’t do all that well.

That would be the dream,

I am very very fond on the t-19 as you can tell over the zf5
All they have going for them is over drive in my opinion

I really wish I could find one of those 3 speed brownies. Better yet, a two speed rear end that would work with an old ten lug superduty. The brownies are out there, like Bigfoot, but I don't know that they ever made a 2 speed rear end for light trucks.

I have a 67 International 1 1/2 ton truck I bought back in 72.
I used it as my DD, haul Hay and haul the Horses etc....
When i was working at a "JOB" dang that is a dirty word... :puke:
wonder if they will*** it?
I drove a 67 Ford F-600 with a 4-spd and 2-spd rear at work. I thought it would be great to have one for my IHC.
Later on read they did offer one from the factory. I think I had the RA-20 Diff and the Ra-28 was the 2-spd. I never did see or come across one though.
My truck has Duals and the tire size in 7-50 x 17" Split Rims.
Good luck finding that tire size.

Later today I`ll see what Brownie I have, bought it from a guy I got to talking to at Costco 8 or 9 years ago. Was looking for the Mitchell gear Box, and he said he had one for sale.
Went out to his place, and what he had was this Brownie, He took it out of his (89?) F-350. Looks brand new.....got it for $250, with Shifter and the short Drive Line. Think it`s call the jack Shaft? was going to install in my 86, but the Fuel tank is a bit too long. Could swap the 19 for a 16 gallon tank I guess.
It would install in my 85 extra Cab though.

I was able to repin most of them from old to new. The PO must have known about it because a couple pins were half"donkey" repaired. It was also broke into two pieces. All good now

Yuck. Wiring is my personal pet peeve. Can’t stand old busted up melted, done wrong, ect…. Wiring. Most people do t understand bad or melted old wiring can burn your truck to the ground pretty quick.
