Yikes! I was OK with $650. But I need my truck to work - it has to last me forever because I don't want a new one! We'll see...

I agree! I'm going to pull the turbo and up pipe and y pipe and look at it all more closely. It absolutely makes no sense that the y pipe only goes into the up pipe 1/2"! They are all bolted to the engine! Whatever that shop did has lasted for 2-3 years, too late to go back to them (and I don't want to now!).

Before you tear it back apart, you should look it over closely. You might be able to see something that doesn't look right that way and you'll know how to proceed from there.

I have to take my turbo off anyway, it has an oil leak that is getting worse. Does anything hold the up pipe besides the turbo?

I got in touch with IDIoit and will buy a new assembly from him - but I'm still worried that something has shifted that I will need to fix for his system to fit correctly.

I have one of @IDIoit up pipes. Its great. The only issue and he is aware of this, on some engines, not all, but some, there is some slight grinding on a little bump that gets in the way. For whatever reason some need it and others don't. Mine needed it, it doesn't take much and doesn't affect anything.

Hmmm. So maybe something with the turbo installation. I usually do all my own work (sometimes several times because I'm not a professional mechanic!), I hired this job out cuz I was busy. Never again!
