Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

In past vehicles (Nissan pickups) I have had to “re-torque” the head bolts after doing a headgasket. I assume that is not needed on my now studded 6.9 IDI?

That was my thought as well, but that means pulling my r and d rails which is a pain in the neck.

Seems like I read on Justin`s site, he said to loosen up the Injectors to get the rails on and lined up, then tighten the Injectors.

But how do you torque the Injectors with the Rails on?
And you would need to replace the copper Washers under them.

I might have read it on his FB Page.

No it shouldn't. All you'd have to do is remove the valve covers. I said "shouldn't" because I haven't seen his fuel rails in person and maybe you do have to remove them to take the valve covers off.

Yes you mostly certainly do have to remove them. I think I could machine Justin’s rails to clear the valve cover bolts but I didn’t want to cut into my brand new expensive product.

You do not torque the injectors, you guess I called Justin about that. And they are easiest to instal on an engine stand although very doable in the truck.

It will be ok, what is too bad is the 97 OBS that we have. It’s clean but it just needs so many things before it’s useable and I wanted it to be my summer driver with AC

The front u joint on the rear drive shaft ran out of needle bearings! I replaced it and we are all good now. I thought I felt a small new vibration. Speedi sleeve was delayed in shipping.

This truck has been the best truck I ever had and it still starts first crank, however it doesnt have any differentials left. The front is empy and the gears are smooth and the rear exploded violently and dramatically, as the whole truck is rough and the frame is still bent I am left wondering if I should just get a different truck for my engine or fork over the 1,200 for a set of axles to a wrecking yard.......


Also if anyones wondering I sold that 97 psd I had, worst truck I have ever owned bar none and I have owned some real bad trucks lol

Slide some axles under er, she can die when you say she can.

If money is tight maybe just get one axle built at a time and stretch things out. That's what I did when I needed a new rear axle. Mine was bent from an accident. I still daily my 87 IDI 4x4 and it's my favorite truck. She just starts and does everything I need.

Is there any reason I can’t just steal some axles, glass, and a 4 speed out of this gasser? I have a t19 diesel bell housing in it right now.

Money is a bit tight but I also want to end up better off than I started when I am done.
