I was looking at these after I did the wiring upgrade but I was already unimpressed with the silver stars so I ended up just putting on a light bar. Let me know how they work out

The Alfas bulbs are very white and very bright! A big step up from the Silver Stars! If they last as advertised, we have a winner!
Well.... Until you blind an old fart like me in oncoming traffic and we have a head on collision because I couldn't see where I was going. ;) I know you'll be safe about it and maybe aim them a little lower. But way too many people want to see like it's daylight, and don't give a rip what it does to other drivers.

Exactly, please let us know if you are getting flashed or not after a few weeks of night driving. Very curious.

I'm right there with you! Lack of high beam discipline is paramount on my list of things that other drivers do that anoy me.

Definitely want to hear if folks are flashing their hibeams at you.

Is there a bulb that is extra bright for hibeam ONLY? That would be perfect.

I've got H4 conversion housings on the XJ and that's what I'm running. Normal low beams and outrageously bright highs. The Alfas low doesn't seem too bad. We will find out as soon as I get some night driving in.

Thank you for not taking that as some sort of sideways insult or attack. I seriously doubt you would blatantly create a hazard without a care.

I am also interested to find out if people start flashing you. If that happens, I'd be interested to watch as you try to do something to alleviate the problem other than just getting rid of the bulbs. (Aim lower. Put tape or paint over the top 1/4 of the headlight. Etc...)

Point is, I too would like to see down the road better. And while I am interested in whether there is anything practical and cheap that can be done to retain as much of the advantage as possible, while reducing the hazard to others... I am too cheap to buy some of those bulbs and do the experimenting, myself. LOL

I think this could end up being pretty valuable 'customizing' information for the whole community.

And it looks like you'll get your chance to experiment soon enough, with how quickly the day is getting so much shorter. LOL

Well, they didn't last. One of the low beams took a dump. Before I bought them, I spoke with a sales person who assured me that they would last. BG is closed until Monday, I'll give then a call and give them a chance to stand behind their product, we'll see. In the meantime, I've been doing some research, thanks to one of the members on here I found out that hella H4's are available for OBS trucks. I also found what looks like a quality LED bulb for a hundred bucks a pair:
