Actually made some progress today after work. Got the evaporator, condenser, and accumulator installed.

I don't really know why the tabs on the old condenser were broken off.

The captive nuts that hold the radiator on practically disintegrated on removal. Luckily I'm a little bit of a packrat. I happened to have a set of 4 nylocks in the right size on the shelf!

Thanks to the repeated plea of @Garbage_Mechan in another thread I thought to look at my radiator and it was filthy. Blew it out and rinsed it good. That should help with the cooling issue as well.

I won't ever recommend Four Seasons AC parts. Either the accumulator or the evaporator was at the wrong angle. To get it to fit I had to slightly bend the evaporator line. It has a minor kink, but I hope it won't be a problem.

The old condenser didn't look too bad really.

The evaporator was filthy though.

Between that and the new blower motor I should have quite a bit more airflow to the cab.

Just curious, did you upgrade to the newer stacked plate design condensor? If so you'll have to let me know. I think next time I drain my system down I'm going to upgrade to it from the old style.

I don't think so, I had already ordered the parts by the time I spoke with you about it. Mine looks very similar to the stock one.

Got everything else hooked up for the AC today. I was going to buy the stuff I need from Harbor Freight but my buddy said he can take it in to work. I'm terrified it's still going to leak after all the money I put into it but that's just my paranoia.

Jumpered the pressure switch and the compressor spins when AC is on so we should be good to go once it's charged!

Had to turn it down on the way home! Granted it wasn't SUPER hot outside but I was VERY impressed!

I hope to get vent temps at some point soon.

Have a large vacuum leak on MAX but I don't have any clue where to start with that. Works fine on Normal so I don't mind.

Best part is it only cost me a couple hours and a few gallons of fuel!

Nice! I've learned to enjoy the amenities like A/C on long trips myself, lol! Btw if its only leaking on max it's probably a line or actuator for the recirculation door. I think you can see it if you take the glove box out.

Yeah I wish I could get an EVTM for this truck for a reasonable price. There was one on ebay a while ago but they wanted like $50. I guess it would be worth it but still... That's a pretty penny for about 15 pages.

Wait a minute.... Does anyone know if the recirc door is the actuator that's in the engine bay? That might be the whole problem. I remember seeing some issue with that. Maybe a line had been patched? I'll have to check it out now. I hope it's an easy fix.

I'm not sure which is the recirculation door. I thought it was inside, but I could be wrong. Hopefully it's something simple like that though. Btw an evtm is much more than 15 pages, lol! They sure are handy too. I have one for my 86 and a 94 and even my Festiva [emoji23] You may be able to find a reprint somewhere too.

Okay fine, 17 pages I just remember buying one for my 86 and being surprised how thin it was. I was looking at the one on Gary Lewis' site yesterday on page like 150 or something so I know it's more than 15 haha.

I don't know. They might have changed it for the bricknose or it might not be the recirc door. I just know there was one under the hood I had seen.

I hooked it back up. I'll try it after work. Definitely needs to be dealt with though because it feels pretty loose. I'll see if I can get some tighter vacuum hose after work and hopefully it won't slip off again.

You could try putting some hose clamps on it. I'd think about getting a longer rubber hose. Maybe that would take some of the pressure off of the plastic line.

I don't think that would help, the length doesn't appear to be the issue. I think what I need is a slightly smaller ID rubber hose. Really I need some new plastic hose to replace the white line but idk how much of a pain that would be.

New problem though. Air intrusion leaving work. Kicked once then died. Pretty sure it's the olive at the IP. Needed to be replaced years ago, I slapped an o-ring on it and completely forgot. Really surprised it lasted so long.

These olives... The IP feed is 5/16 right? How on earth do you remove the old one? It's too hard to pick out with a screwdriver and I don't really want to melt it out but I will if I have to.
