WOW thats not in that bad of shape!
Mel should be looking at this one for his son instead of that CC. A CC is far to big IMHO for a begining driver (lots of parking lot accidents waiting to happen). This is a shorter vehicle, easier to drive.

Parking lot accidents?. I guess you haven't been to Mel's house. I was there a few years ago. I was in the area picking up my new to me travel trailer that I acquired for $400.00. Good thing I didnt tow it to his house I would have never made it on the property. He lives in an extremely tight area. My ambulance is about as long as a crew cab and it was tight getting in the driveway with that. My first 3 cars were only 12 feet long when I started driving. Years ago I worked for a motor home rental place part time. The company was just starting out and there was one time a guy came to pick up a rental and didnt like the way one of the tires looked. The owner was away on business and the guy didnt take the rental. The owner found out when he got back and wasnt happy about it and said that I should have driven it to get the trie replaced. I was 18 at the time and never drove anything that big before at the time so I told him that and didnt want to taKe the chance on wrecking it.

Today I will drive anything I had to no matter what size it is.

If Mel's son is going to have a CC the least he can do for his son is install a backup cam on it. They only run around a $100.00. The savings on his insurance going up because of an accident that was avoided with a backup cam will justify the cost.


Here in NJ a newly licensed driver can't have more than one passenger in his vehicle who is not a member of his or her family.

No driving between 12:01 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.
Passengers must be from your household. Only one additional person from outside your household is allowed in the vehicle
If you are at least 21 years old, there are no passenger or hour restrictions
You can't use cell phones, hand held video games or any other hand held electronic device

This is a shorter vehicle, easier to drive.

It's not THAT much shorter...the wheelbase difference is about 13 inches (168 for a CC, vs 155 for an extended cab). And, with it being a 4x4, I rather doubt that the turning radius is going to be any better (having driven a CC dualie, I can attest to my extended-cab 4x4 turning wider )

That sheet metal looks like it's in about the same shape as mine...maybe a bit better...

I don't know about the differance between an extended cab and a CC, but there is a heck of a differance between a standard cab and an EX as far as downtown parallel parking, these EX trucks just don't turn...........

The "belt" color on my truck is black, but the gray is the same. That truck's also an auto, but it's otherwise configured pretty much the same as mine...

This is what my truck looked like in December; other than cancer starting to establish its death-grip on the body from the sea air, she looks pretty much the same...I just keep telling myself that the body panels need to be replaced someday anyways...

John is correct. Things are a bit tight in my neigborhood, but we learn to adapt. You gain experience with time. My buddy brings his 2005 Freightliner down for me to work on it now and then, and I've rented 28 foot streight trucks that I've had in the driveway, and turned around. Basically, if you know how to drive on a railroad access, then you know what my roads look like. Matthias would have no problem with a crew cab, as he is genetically predestined to have the skills.
