WTB VW GTI Diesel

[6 Nebraska IDIs]

Open to pretty much anything except a Beetle GTI.
My brother wants one since diesel is already over $4.50/gal and the trucks are just too expensive to drive all the time anymore.

He bought one today. I found out VW has not yet made a GTI AWD TDI, but they will be soon. Anyway, he bought an 06 Jetta GLS TDI with the Package 1 and some options. I'll post pics of our new member of the fleet when it gets here next week..

I didnt want to say they hadnt made a AWD TDI over here, but thats what I was thinking.

Hopefully they can come out with one for the new models, although I hear they are having problems with the HPFP grenading and taking out $8-10K worth of engine components on the new TDI's.

Make sure he runs 505.01 VW rated oil. BRM's like to eat camshafts otherwise.

Do you guys have any elecctrical or other annoying issues that cause trouble with your vw"s? If they are reliable enough, I would like to get my wife a Passat TDi wagon for her next car. I just keep hearing bad things about sensors and such costing people a buttload of money to fix.

I've talked to the local VW dealers mechanic and he said steer clear of any car thats been in an accident. If its been in an accident you will certainly have sensor issues with the car for the remainder of its life. Front and rear damage is bad, but apparently any door damage is literally not worth fixing there are so many sensors in the doors the cars are just never right after they have had a side impact collision.
