If they're both 4x4's, you shouldn't have too much in the way of problems. You might have to resize your driveshafts if the E4DOA's any longer or shorter than the ZF and if one truck's a regular cab and the other's an extended-cab, and you'll need to get a clutch pedal set from a '92-'97 truck, but everything else should transfer right over. If you don't get the complete donor truck, make sure you get the tranny itself, the driveshafts (if both trucks are the same cab), the clutch hydraulics, and the floor pan insert.
As to the ZF...it's a pretty good tranny. It's not as bulletproof as a T-19 is, but I wouldn't call it problematic either, and IMHO the overdrive gear is worth the trade-off unless you almost never drive on the highway. The biggest potential issue is the flywheel...I would recommend not keeping the dual-mass flywheel as it is. I would recommend a single-mass flywheel conversion...I've been running one for about 5 years and 40K miles with no ill effects. You can also do a Lucky Mod to the dual-mass that's in the donor truck now; take a look in the tech articles if you want to see what that's about (although I'm not personally a fan). Lastly, don't make a habit of floating gears on the ZF (i.e. shifting without the clutch)...it may be acceptable in an emergency, but it WILL shorten the lifespan of the rather expensive syncros in the tranny.
Hope that helps a bit...good luck!!
And, to answer the original question, I would rip that E4DOA out in a heartbeat! It's not a question of IF that tranny will leave you stranded...it's a question of WHEN

unless it's been strengthened up by a rebuilder. I swapped a T-19 to a ZF in my '84 in 2005 and couldn't be happier (well, until I get this OD unit installed

)...
