Whining when letting of the gas

03 3500 dually 4x4, 125,000 miles. When I let off the gas in 5th or 6th gear, I hear a whine or a squeal. When I put my clutch in or put the gas down again, it quits. It only does it sometimes. Any ideas?

Usually pinion bearings only make noise when engine braking at higher speeds like you describe. Have to hear it to be sure but it’s something to look into
