Howdy
Nothing sad about it. It's the truth.
1,703,000 miles and still ticking. I run it over the road pulling either a flatbed, or a pneumatic. 3406B approx 425HP+, 15 over, 3.70 rears, and tall rubber.
There is a 1965(?) (mid 60's) era KW conventional running around. (I think I might have posted it above or in another post...) Any how, it has an aluminum frame (factory original) and is going on it's 5th engine so far. The last engine they took out was OLDER then the truck.... had a brownie box and main tranny, but they swapped a 13 speed and left brownie. Last I saw it, the current owner was putting new air ride axles in it.... but she's still on the road. I beleive it's a W series... but I'm not sure.
Oh, and it's a logging truck.... been that way most of its life they say. With an aluminum frame none the less.
The trucks with N14s are pretty easy to work on. My cousin used to run and LTLS9000 that was reprogrammed but now runs milk trucks on Sterling Chassis' and my cuz that works for the local Ford dealer just reprograms everything to get a higher top speed, better torque ranges, etc... The trucks are fun, when I drive for them it's nice to get out and light the fire. Of course we do have a bit of a reputation around here...
Aluminum framed logger? Whoa.
39 speeds?
Well, I won't say how FAST they have gotten it.... empty that is....
Going home from work with the empty racks, let's see...........
Turned up motor, overdrive main, overdrive aux, hmmmm......
"Man officer, I had no idea that she could go that fast, 105 was it?"
"I was hoping for 130 mph!"
