I'm thinking of converting to a WVO setup and wonder what temp the thermostat opens up at so I can get an idea of how it will operate in winter :)

If you are running stock "gauges", take whatever you are seeing it at currently and call that the baseline. Any changes you notice could be good or bad. Only way to tell for sure is by installing a real set of aftermarket gauges.

The thermostat SHOULD open at 192°F. That said, every thermostat is somewhat unique, so I would follow what towcat said...

I know that there are a lot variables but I am interested in warm-up times for a 7.3 IDI F250 automatic empty. What would be a typical warm-up time for this situation - 30 deg F , startup (no block heater - idle for 3 min-5min) then city driving no faster than 35 mph . How long should is take to get up to temp ? Would partially covering the radiator help shorten the warm-up time even with this low speed type driving ? - Thanks
