Strange thing I have seen, down the road at work is a 92+ F250HD that is Crew cab!

Looks to be diesel from the exhaust

well, ok that brings me to another question that just came up last night. Saw an ad for a 1990 F250 Crew Cab 4x4 SRW. I called and tried to get details from the guy on who did the work and he swears up and down that it is an F250 CC with TTB front suspension. I can't find any reference to these being available. Going to go have a look at it tonight.

Most likely a 1997 Crew Cab short bed F250 PSD.

In 1997, the F250's had 'Heavy Duty' on their badges instead of XLT.

In '96 and '97 Ford offered a CC short bed in an F250 model.

Actually, as I understand it, Dana 44 front axles were standard equipment on regular cab F-250's up until '86, even HD's with full-floating rear axles. So, my guess is that neither axle was swapped on your truck...

That's true. The statement previously made about the f250HD having a d50 front is not correct. The only f250's that came standard with a dana 50 frontend were the extended cab models. The dana 50 must have been a option rarely ordered on the rest of the f250 line, since someone will chime in once in awhile and say they have one under the front of their regular cab f250.

My 88 was like that. I think it had a D60 up front. Every time I did anything to the drive line, steering,or brakes it was "special order". I was told the original owner ordered it that way. IDK.

I'd agree with that. It's also important to note that the Dana 44's were not in fact Dana 44's. They were Dana 44HD's. There is a BIG differnence between the two. Much larger spindles and more bolts holding it on to a much bigger knuckle. Very few parts from a Dana 44 will interchange with a Dana 44HD.

Since you have mentioned that, if I remember correctly, this was usually included in the snow plow prep package. A good friend of mine has 2 f250 gassers with the dana 50 in it - they were both plow prep trucks

Well the 1990 F250 Crew Cab turned out to be an F350, complete with Dana 60 front diff and all  but I didn't buy it

PSA - when a guy is telling you that he is about to drive 1 hour each way to come check out the truck you have for sale - you might want to mention that it has been completely painted with tremclad and a roller.:puke: :backoff

But, while I was there I saw a 95 F250 Xcab 4x4 XLT Lariat Powerstroke 5 speed for $3500. 334,000 kms, new turbo 10,000kms ago, all the bells/whistles work and owner maintained by a knowledgeable person - he had all the right answers about coolant, oil, etc. It followed me home for $3000 :D
