The 1zz-fe's suffer from the oil return holes in the pistons drilled way too small. Dino oil cokes inside and once it starts basically can't be stopped short of pulling the head and drilling out the holes bigger. Or buying new pistons.Does that corolla have the same valve stem issues as the Rav4s(and other cars) did with the 1az-fe? My Rav4 was using something like half a quart a tank before I changed out the valve stems seals and now it uses less that that per oil fill. The stem seals were worn to the point I probably could have fit a second valve in there. My Corolla with the 7a-fe probably needs that too, but I got enough of the oil loss under control when I change out the valve cover gasket and the distributor seal.
I've only had my idi for about 2 months and it's my first one. Other vehicles I have are a Toyota venza, 88 bronco currently broke again and an 89 crown vic wagon I'm gonna turn into a sleeper.
My mom has a 2018 4 runner. They are insanely capable off road. The 7.3 Turbo IDI since new, now pleasure use only , collector plates. 2013 Boss 302, summer use . 2019 TRD off road 4 Runner everyday use.
