i'm looking at a 99 2500 with 24valve cummins. Couple questions i was hoping you folks could help me with. Wat kind of mileage do these trucks average? This truck has 192000km or 119000 miles. Seems like a pretty decent amount to me. and also i noticed that when i let off the pedal in the 5 speed it almost seems to have slack in the drivline cause there's a pause then it slows down hard. In my 01 f-250 diesel when i let off the pedal it's real smooth. Is this a dodge thing or a point of concern?

I have a 98 1/2 extend cab 4x4 with a 5 speed with 54,000 miles on it and I was getting 16 to 17 miles stock. I just added a programmer, intake and exhust and I am getting 20 to 21 miles, if I can keep my foot out of it and in the tow mode. As far as the letting off the gas and it slowing down hard, I think that is a dodge thing mine did it until I put the intake on it I dont feel it as much now.

Stay away for an 53 block they may not all crack but there is a good chance of it happening! My was gutless from new and so it cracked ( The side of the block) out of the unoffical cuminz warranty period! So I was quoted from $7000.00 to $14,000 for a short to long block.
. So have a 55 Topkick coming in a months time.
Mine was a FACTORY LEMON so I have been exceedingly annoyed with the gutlesswonder.

buddy of mine has a 99 with an auto 4x4 and he gets around 15-17 us mpg on a typical basis. I would expect the stick to get better mileage.
