Motor has roughly 6000 miles since I rebuilt it. The rotating assembly was balanced by the machine shop. The harmonic damper and the flexplate was included in the balancing. The harmonic damper is old and has who knows how many miles on it, but the rubber looked good. The flexplate is the old 6.9, heavy two piece design. I have an irritating vibration at 1500 RPM whether it is in gear or not, moving or not. Took me a while to figure out what else was vibrating (turbo oil line against the firewall, and cowl against whatever) in order to isolate the noise this far. I'm down to the last vibration and it seems like it is coming from either the motor or the transmission.

Is the engine itself actually vibrating (as in shaking from some unbalance) or are you hearing only a noise like a humming?
