I have recently read a few post on vacuum pumps that concern me. They are all telling me that I need to change the oil in my vacuum pump? With many years of service as a Ford technician (part as diesel) and more years in the aftermarket I have never heard of this... I recently replaced the pump in my truck with good results but have now a few weeks later am having a problem with an intermitant brake light. Pedal still feels fine. My question is simple... To add/replace/change oil in a pump what viscosity oil and how much do I need? Thanks for any info.

Read a few post lately about oil change, I've seen anywhere from SAE30 to 70W140 gear oil to ATF. Only takes about half pint I guess. Search for post's on it.

All the new ones from NAPA are dry on delivery!, I've used 10-40 synthetic with no problems.
