Located on the right fender of my 1985 F-350, just beside the ball-looking vacuum chamber, right behind the battery, is some kind of vacuum device.

A vacuum hose goes from it to the vacuum manifold on the fire-wall, just over the air-box.

There is a plug with three wires, bright red, dull red w/white stripe, and black.

This unit has a round plastic piece, about 3" diameter by 3/4" thick, with a round metal diaphragm?? the same size.

What purpose does this unit serve??

Is it a vacuum warning light sensor??

Thanks.

I monitor vacuum with two gauges.

If that is all that thing does, it is bad in the way of progress, so I guess it will get surgically removed, or possibly relocated, if it still works; it would be cool to work the little red light on the trailer vacuum gauge.

Thanks.

You can use it for anything you desire.
However did you ever go into a toll both -step on the brakes only to find you have no vacum??
A gauge doesn't hit you in the eye to warn You of a problem. -cuss

PS - It is hard to pay a toll at 60 miles per hour. :rotflmao unless you want to see the

I un-hooked the vacuum line from this gizmo and let the truck idle.

No lights or buzzers or anything different, except that the gauge held at about 15 inches HG.

Obviuosly, this thing has just been going along for the ride, for the last several years.

It is in the way of progress, so it will now reside in one of my five-gallon buckets of stuff I don't throw away, forget what they are, and once in a million years, dig through and find something I can use.

Thanks for identifying this device for me.
